I was just cleaning some pictures off my camera and came across this one. This is sitting just above 8000 ft on a ridge in central Idaho. We're always talking about problems they have, here's one doing it's thing. To get to this point there was a lot of deep ruts and rocks and I was really happy to have the Range Rover. My buddy had his F250 farther down the hill, but he really didn't want to take it up where we were. The Range Rover made it easy going.

It's got wolf wheels with good year G90s, 7.50x16. My 235/85R16 chains fit them perfectly so they are pretty much the same size. They are great tires in everything but ice. With no siping they get a little slick.

We'll call the bumper a kris-built. I actually made the bumper. Still need to finish the sliders and the rear bumper. My factory rear bumper is looking pretty sad, the high-lift hasn't been kind to it.

Overall, she's a little long in the tooth, but still running well. I swapped in a low miles 4.0 ltr a few years ago, and it's been going strong ever since. It actually doesn't leak a drop of any fluids (no it's not empty). I do need to re-gear the diffs, but one thing at a time. I almost have the money saved for new rear shafts and center section. I am actually surprised I haven't broken a shaft yet.

All the fiddly stuff is starting to break, the flap that chooses fresh air or recirc sounds like somebody is clapping if I leave it on fresh air. I am guessing a vacuum hose or actuator has died. Still haven't disassembled to see what it really is. My dash is broken in numerous places from a crash by the PO, so when I do take it apart, it may not go back together. The rear windows can only be actuated by the switches in the doors, the rear lift gate is disintegrating, and most of the clearcoat on the drivers side is gone, but for an 87 she's doing well! I have been really tempted to build a hybrid with her, but I just can't bring myself to do it yet. She's definitely a 50 footer... too close and the flaws really stand out. But for a bush rig, it's hard to beat!
