Not too happy with Vigg Designs...

I ordered a hood blackout for my D1 on 6/12. I waited 2 weeks and nothing so I called them and they gave me a tracking number which showed it didnt ship till the 22nd. Not really that big of a problem, but not the fastest shipping department...I recieved my blackout last wed and it was damaged. I opened the long box that the cardboard tube was in and the tube was actually 2 tubes taped together. The tape failed alowing the entire thing to bend in the middle. The hood blackout was either pinched or bent as there is a repeating crease throughout the center of it. I didnt open it till late last wed so I couldnt call them till the next day.

I called vigg design and the guy who answered the phone seemed kind of rude and first demanded pictures which I didnt have a problem with, only that I couldnt email them till today as I have been out of town. He then proceeded to tell me to call UPS as it had to have been damaged during shipping and file a claim, which I told him that the shipper has to file a claim and that it shouldnt have to be "my problem." He then argued with me on how it could not have been damaged as they ship out hundreds of shipments a week...If they used a solid cardboard tube or taped it properly this would not have been a problem...finally after arguing with the guy he said to send him the pictures and they will ship me out a new blackout when they see the damage...I do hope this is the case or I will be contacting my credit card company....

I sent John Vigg the link to this thread.. He stands behind all his work, and if UPS damages something, he will file a claim with them and send you a new blackout. I'm not sure who you talked to on the phone, but John will take care of it.

The one I got for a Christmas present was beat to hell too and they shipped it to the wrong address.

I bought a RoverTym.

Did you call to try to get it straightened out? He does send out a ton of blackouts a week, and things do get damaged.. that is why they are insured.. he has no problem in sending another one out if UPS caused damaged, as they will reimburse him for the damaged package.

I have no coments on Vigg, as I have never used them, but I used to run the CS and Shiping departments for a rather large mail order company, and can tell you that that packageing is sh!ty. The seam need some support or an overlap, not just tape. UPS will not pay Vigg for the damage, also for future reference if you personaly receive the package, it is easiest to get the delivery driver to file a roport right on the spot. Otherwise contacting the shipper is the right thing to do, and they can call their rep and get it sorted. As for them being rude on the phone, that's just not good, CS is all about service with a smile, even if the customer is clearly wrong and a pain is the ass, you have to be freindly at all times.

Hope it was all a misunderstanding and it gets sorted out.

Don't forget, depending on the card, you only have 30 days from the date of the charge to challenge it. No matter what the seller offers as a warranty. Even if they say they stand behind it for 90 days, with most cards you still only have 30 days to dispute it.

That tape job is lame. It can't be that hard to get tubes the right length.

Just give us a call,
i know that you did, but if there is ever a problem, we can fix it quicker then waiting for me to get on discoweb and see a post.
Yes, i do need pictures, i need to send them to UPS. Not only that, but many people; many many people damage them on their own. So i need to weed those instances out. Not that i wouldnt replace those too, just that i need to make sure that it doesnt happen again.
I can tell you that UPS has no answer for me, we use all new packaging, and the tubes inside are not neccessary at all, but a lot less have been ruined that way. UPS has covered almost every damaged package, yet has yet to tell us how to ship them better besides using the tubes inside too.
Im glad this is just a UPS mistake, and they are great with fixing this. I've sent every replacement out with just the customers word that they will call UPS. And any shipper will tell you that you'll get further with UPS is the receiver calls first from a damaged package.

my vigg blackout came in two carboard tubes also .
i thought this strange as the tube is used to keep it from bending yet two tubes made for a perfect crease.
as i siad before the first one was defective as the backing would not come off and seriously creased.
the second was not cut properly as the knife was lifted and then tried again leaving a feathered edge.
i do not want to try getting this off of my new to me 2004 disco.

UPS has nothing to do with two short tubes taped together in a box.

i understand it had to be folded to get it into a onepiece tube as its large BUT two tubes made it twice as bad.

Now that's a stand up kinda business! I can agree with John. Call the shipping co. first and offer the same evidence. Same thing happened to me, only through Atlantic British. I called UPS about my smashed box and damaged product. They gave me and "claim" # and then I called A.B. Gave them the # and a new shipment arrived in two days.

Why not just ship them in a box/tube like they ship Golf Clubs in?

Calling and reporting a claim to UPS should be on the shippers end, as far as I'm concerned. But, the PITA part of it is getting the claim approved. I went through this last month with UPS. I had to really argue my point with the claim department, which I'm sure they are trained to do. It was shotty on my end, because I was out another 90.00 as I needed to make the customer happy first, then worry about my money. It took UPS about 4-weeks to submit a check to me. If I was on the receiving end, and I wanted my parts, I would be pissed if I had to be at the mercy of UPS to "make it right". And, I would be even more pissed if I was the buyer and had to deal with the waiting times and calls to the high schooler at UPS who talks in ebonic code.
