2004 Disco with 90K miles. In the last few weeks I fixed power steering and coolant leak by rebuilding power steering pump, and replacing water pump. Now there is an oil leak which is tough to pin point. Everything under the car is oily. Nothing visible from the top. I saw a oil droplet almost ready to fall off at the oil filter. Its tight though. Entire underside including oil pan, transmission is soaked in oil. On a given day few drops fall off not huge puddles. Any help as to where to start. Will degrease and powerwash the underbody tomorrow.

Look at the cam sensor . That o ring will leak and run off the filter like your saying yours does . It also will leak down into the front crank seal area and get slung around .

It could be coming from a number of places like Valve Cover Gaskets, Front Timing Cover Gasket, Oil Pressure Switch/Gasket, oil pan gasket, oil cooler lines, or the front main seal. I'd suggest spraying the area down with some brake clean and then checking for fresh oil after a drive or two. You said you have oil about to fall off the oil filter. I'd check the front timing cover, and oil pressure switch/gasket.

I recently just bought a 98 and it had fresh oil dripping from what appeared to be the front timing cover/RH valve cover gasket, and I had oil about to fall off my oil filter as well. I sprayed the areas with brake clean, and then after a few short drives, I found my oil pressure switch/gasket was leaking (could easily tell where the drip was running from, replaced the oil pressure switch, and wiped the area down. You'd be amazed how the oil seeping from that bad o-ring was being blown all over the place. For me that was my big leak. I still have a small seep at the rear main, but coming from Jeeps with the 4.0L a rear main seep is no big deal.

Sorry to hijack...but how did you get the oil pressure switch off and the replacement on? I'm having the same issue and am at a loss on how to get the switch out!

You remove the switch with a spanner lefty loosey and add the new one using the same spanner but right tighty.
Your question is very vague btw, it might help of you be more specific.

Lol, sorry, to be more specific, what kind of spanner? I'm familiar with the lefty loosey, right tight phenom. I've tried a open end wrench and my adjustable is too big to fit in the area to remove the switch. Thanks!

A ring should fit, that would be best. If you can't get a ring on it then an open wrench should do, but leave the adjustable in the toolbox. That sensor is not too tight. Did the open wrench fit but you couldn't get it loose?

The OEM one was a larger open end wrench size vs the replacement, but I was able to angle it into position and get it loose enough to finish removing it by hand. Opposite for install, quick and easy repair!

I couldn't get the open end onto the sensor, it's a 24mm that i was using and its pretty long so it's hard to get it to fit in the cramped area.

When you changed oil filter, did you make sure the gasket to the one replaced was removed? The double gasket can start immediately the leak you stated.

That little sensor is ~$75 for the OEM. That's just nuts. I will try out the ~$15 Britpart version.. Also, I noticed that most of the STC4104's for sale on eBay either come with no washer or O-ring or just with the flat washer ... That O-ring (STC3372) must be made out of Unobtainium because a pack of 10 is going for FORTY-FIVE DOLLARS (*Free Shipping!) on eBay! 8-D

The STC4104 is only $8 at AB and it includes the washer and o-ring.
