So the wife got some tickets to a Broadway show (she didn't have to take a class to get them) so I'm heading in to Nyc to chaperone her. I'm mainly going to provide security and get a good steak. So even though I only live 1hr from midtown and have been there a million times, I haven't been there in a couple years. So I'm looking for a good steakhouse to go to after the show. I've been to the regulars like Smith and Wollenky and Peter Lugers which are both great but looking for something different. Price is not part of the equation as long as the food is good.

We've been to a few in the past year. Everyone has their favorite, but I really like Sparks. Lugers is clearly one of (or the) best, but there are equally as good options I think considering there are lots of good steak houses in the city. Keens and Strip House are the only other two that have been mentioned to us by my GFs family whom we visit there. I mean come on.....Paul Castellano was gunned down in front of Sparks! It's gotta be good.

what about Tom Collichio's BLT Prime or Wolfgang's in Murray Hill? Sparks is good as well but I prefer Lugers in Brooklyn over Sparks. I'm not a fan of Strip House mainly because it reminded me of a bad strip club and I only have been to the pub at Keens.

Strip House
Keen's
Luger's
Sparks
Wolfgang's

There's a shit ton of steak houses in Manhattan! Everyone claims to be the best not unlike pizza places. They all know how to cook a steak its all up to personal preference. I think if you can only go to one it would be Peter Luger's - Sparks claim to fame is Paul Castellano's untimely end on the front sidewalk.

I usually go to

Strip house
Keens
Wolfgang's
Smith and Wollenskys

If you like Lugers then go to Wolfgang's.

There is also del frisco's but I think it is too big and too much Wall Street power lunch atmosphere for me. There are some new ones that look good and something different. Quality meats and quality Italian. There is also porter house in Columbus circle but I don't think they were that special.

Keens is cool, it is pretty historic. If you go there get the mutton chop.
