OK, I have a '03 Discovery II V8. I need to get it to pass smog, but it has a check engine light on that wont go away. Hooked up to a OBDII diagnostic reader it shows that Bank 1, both O2 seonsors = No Data. Bank 2 is running fine. So I replaced both O2 sesnsors, unplugged the battery to clear the codes, then took it for a drive, within 5 miles the check engine light came back. Any other idea? I have a sencond set of O2 sensors that I have had and Im going to try those right now but I dont feel very confident about it.

Start simple. Have you checked the connection and cleaned them? I had a similar situation with a new O2, then I found that the connector plug was not properly seated when I installed the new. Looked OK but when I tugged on it I found it was not seated properly. Cleaned the connector, made sure it "clicked" in place securely and all was good.

if you check the connectors and swap the sensors nad still have issues, you might have a bad ECM. i have seen this a few times where it totally craps out on one bank of sensors both primary and/or secondary.
