Did anyone try those? I was under the impression that the 4.6L sensors were different. From memory, the plug was my OEM was black and yellow (not sure if colors make the plugs different).

My understanding though is that NTK is the only manufacturer that does the sensors with the threading used on the Disco (M10 ? can't remember on the top of my head).

The eBay vendor I was refering to is "Car Parts Wholesale", the have the 4-wire oxygen (lambda, o2) universal sensor for $35 shipped:

Another idea someone else had (which at the time made sense, not sure anymore since prices seem to have come down drastically since I last checked):
- grind the current bolt on the exhaust pipe
- weld a new bolt that would allow a different 4-wire (cheaper) sensor to be fitted

[I just realized I might be off topic.... info I am refering to is for the 4.0L Discovery I, I just realized that the original poster is talking about a 01 DII which I believe has much cheaper o2 sensors "from factory"]

Just an update.....

I install a set of OEM pre-cat O2 sensors from Rover Connection for $65 each and have gotten my 300 miles per tank back.:D

I have to say it was a bitch getting the old O2's out.
Penetrating oil, heat & etc really didn't help much.
I wanted to try and save the old ones but end up having to cut the wires off to put a deep well socket on it.
End up messing up the first thread on the right side but I was able to grind the bung down enough to get to a good thread to get the new one in. ;)

This is what I got, your results maybe different.

The ones with the slot up the side would have broke under the torque I needed to use all the way out on my right side one, even after breaking them loose with a open end wrench.

I figured the hell with trying to save O2's with over 100K miles on them anyway so I clipped the wires off!

Steve, how did you get them for $65? The Rover Connection price on their site is $105. Curious minds want to know.

Also, you're right about those slotted O2 sockets. They'll either break or flex open.
