Not a day too soon. I finally got my on-board air set up just in time for the weekend. You can just see the viair and the switch works awesome! The viair sits well in the little cavity without any hesitation. The cool air runs from the top and is totally out of the way. Seems sort of loud, more so than I expected, but not as load as a normal plug in compressor. The quick disconnect sits well out of the way and is in the perfect spot. Doesn't get hit by the door cubby and is rock solid. No chance it will come out with normal wear and tear and doubtful it will break off unless you step on it.

Total time to install.....3 hours.

Next....a tank underneath. One of those 2 gallon ones +/-. I have seen the tanks on ebay from old worn out husky's and cobalts. Any suggestions?

Oh, and thanks to the guys that emailed me with the tips on the viair and panel removal. It really was easy!

I'd like a writeup on the whole install if possible. I have an MV50 that I'd like to install behind the panel just like you've done. Where did you get the power from, how did you mount the compressor, did you have to modify the compressor at all, how is your switch wired with respect to the power that you presumably had to run for the comprssor, etc.

Which unit did you get? I was looking at a viair a while back, seems like there was a standard, a heavy duty, and a severe service or something like that. Didn't get one because I wasn't satisfied with where to put it but after seeing this install...gotta have one!

I'd like tips on removing the trim in a se7 rig please..

I used a putty knife and lots of patience. Took me a few minutes per plug, but well worth it. just keep wiggling them out.

Gimme an email for the whole write up, but the power came from the front. 10 gauge I believe. Under the truck all the way back and up through the rear tail light and into the truck. 20 feet of wire. I have an extra foot or two but go with 20, you will be happy you did. $.24/foot. The compressor was mounted right to the interior panel of the truck. Self taping metal screws. Worked well. I imaging that after prolonged use they may loosen a bit, but I decided to go with it. The alternative is to use a nut/bolt but there is not a lot of space. I didn't modify the compressor at all. I will be adding a tank because I want to run tools. Should only be a matter of mounting the tank and running the air line. everything else should stay the same. The switch is easy. You run the hot lead off the battery to one lead on the switch then the hot lead off the compressor to the switch. (I got everything hot and grounded then I just figured out what lead to use because there are 3). There is a ground behind the panel that I used. Plug and Play.

I used the V380. 100% duty cycle. Nice! And it fits....just.....right....in the little space behind there. My guess is that you can use any of the viair models. They are probably all the same size. Even if they are bigger, there is a little more room to fit a bigger model.

I for got say, I got an email that told me to just take the bottom plugs out. If you take the bottom ones out (the ones at the seam of the beige and black) you have plenty of room to get the lower panel away. Just take your time with the plugs. Putty knife and patience. The biggest pain was the seat. Blue thread lock on everything and the seat has a spring that wants to 'spring'. It's easy though....!
