Exactly. The interceptor is the long range shit that doesn't even work and was shut down. It was shut down because the missiles that it's supposed to be shooting down don't even exist. The short range-mid range systems are what is being moved forward because those missiles DO exist.

OK, school me on that.
What were the systems supposed to be deployed in Eastern Europe? Long range, medium range, or short range?
Now, what is moved forward, and where - if you wanted to create a system to intercept Iranian mid- and short-range missiles, where would you want to place it? In France, Italy, Germany, or Greece (real estate price check), or in Turkey (how stable that is?)?

I don't blindly support John's rants, but, like Mike said, if it irked Russia, there must have been something that could disrupt Russian foreign trade or/and policy business.
If our President all of a sudden changed his mind, one of the following must have happened:
- that we've had a trick up our sleeve, but we weren't sure of until now, or
- threat assessment significantly changed for the entire region, or
- President made a concession to Putin, for whatever reason.
Which one do you think it is?
