Nope, the connector under the right side of the dash is where I found my power line was disrupted. One of the "wrapped in 800 feet of electrical tape" connections was full of corrosion. Rusted off the end of the line to the OBD2 port...

Hope that helps.

Re: OBD Fuse?

Well,

I did a search and this is the closest thing I came up with to my issue, but not a lot of discussion.

I needed to use the OBD port to check coolant temps this weekend. My OBD scanner would not recognize the vehicle nor power off of the OBD port. It was as if it was not connected. It would only make the Anti Lock light flash.

I checked the pins to make sure everything was in good shape, they are.

I checked the OBD on a different vehicle to make sure it would read properly, it does.

I had a bad brake switch so I used the OBD port jumper trick this spring and I do not think I have needed it since. At this point I wish I would have known about the defroster jumper trick.

Anyway, some ideas / guesses would be appreciated.

So, I am a bit confused.

Granted I am not very familiar with wiring diagrams and such, but the Rave that I am looking at does not show a fuse #20. I look at the diagram in the electrical trouble shooting section and it shows satellite fuse box #2 with a fuse in it. Yet in Rave workshop none of the fuses in the satellite #2 are listed as data link connector.

Thanks for the help so far, but I must be missing something simple. At least I understand that there is a fuse somewhere. I am guessing that is what it is, maybe I shorted it when I did the brake switch bypass.

Are you sure your OBD port is securely connecting to the reader? I used to have trouble getting the reader to connect with my truck and it took me a while to realize why: even though the plug looked like it was securely connected to the port, it was not. The port had some play in it and took a bit of wrangling for the plug to seat properly.

Yup, I am pretty sure.

During the brake switch bypass stunt, I removed the OBD port from the plastic housing and left it swinging. I thought it would give me better access compared to the tight quarters on the panel. It also give you a decent view of the mating of the port and the OBD reader.

I did check all pins and wires as well.
