Oddest D2 radio problem

I can regularly get in the vehicle and drive, and the radio is fine. I turn or brake hard, and the radio gets muffled and weird sounding. Sometimes it magically fixes itself, sometimes it doesn't. I can get in the truck one day and it works fine at first and then gets muffled during the drive. Another day, I can get in the truck and it's muffled from the beginning.

Cassette, radio, and CD all have the same problem, when it's "active".

Anyone seen something like this? It's got me puzzled.

Does the DII have an amplifier under the driver's seat like the DI? I had almost the same problem after hitting bumps, etc. with my DI and it was the wiring/clip connecting into the front of the amplifier.

Update:

The radio was in muffled mode.

So, I looked under the front of the seat and didn't see anything missing. I tried with my fingertips to see if anything was loose, and I found nothing. The radio was still in muffled mode.

I moved the seat all the way forward so I could check the back side. The radio was still in muffled mode.

I opened the back door. THE RADIO FIXED ITSELF. I hadn't touched anything, I just opened the freaking door.

Insane.

For the heck of it, I tried to find wires that were loose or caught on the seat somehow. I didn't find any.

And now, a week later, the radio has worked perfectly.

Grrrr.... :banghead: I'm glad it's working, but I'm afraid it'll reappear....

I had a similar issue, no sound in the speaker but the controls worked fine. Checked connectors both behind radio and to amplifier several time, disconnected and reconnected, no improvment. I finally removed the amplifier under drivers seat and opened it. Couldn't see any visual damage, but decided to disconnect the two circuitboards in there, the main board from the board which holds the connector. After reassembly it have work fine again. No intermittent faults with sound. We'll see how long it lasts, only a week now. But a new fault is that the speakers "bump" every time I turn the radio on now.
