Hey, GMail is google.com's newest free email server. They give you 1GB of storage, and strong spam filters. It is private right now, and invite only.

I have 3 invites left over (and perhaps more coming, ive already gone through 12).. Free to the first 3 people who ask for them. Just leave your current email address on this thread.. (you can put blah (at) blah.com to avoid possible spammers).. oh, I think they are having a problem with sending gmail invites to Hotmail, so I can promise anything to those.

Never recieved the invite to paulor(at)yahoo.com.

Sorry, was just able to finally get on this board..

Pugsly -- I sent you an invite, let me know if you get it!

pdb3 -- I sent it to you immediately yesterday, must have been the filters.. let me know your other email address and i'll send it to that one..

After that one, i'm out of accounts for now.. if you still want one though, leave your email address and if I get any more invites, i'll hook you up. I've been getting about 3 per every 3-4 days.

Take care

Sorry, none for me, Thanks. I'm bothered by the fact that Google/Gmail will scan your emails for key words for advertising in your email account. Me thinks I'll keep my email private ;)

SilverJ -- While it is true that Google looks for keywords in your messages to deliver you ads, so it can afford to give out 1gb of free space a month.. It's not something I lose sleep over. Do you really think hotmail/yahoo/any other mail server in this world is secure while sending plaintext mail?

I have other primary email addresses, but Gmail is real nice in the fact that I can send myself an email of a large file, and then from anyplace else access it via the web and download it at fast speeds.

To each his own though!

Certainly I don't think most mail servers are secure. That's why I only use yahoo, or in the past MSN, for things like regestering in a chat room. I have a separate email account for friends and family. Even so, yahoo just gave me a boat load of more free storage (that I'll never use) and I don't receive pop-up-ads, ever. Ads are annoying. I just value my privacy more than others. Like you said, to each his own. ;)

SilverJ -- If security is ever a concern of yours for email, there is a place www.hushmail.com, which I have a cheap pay account on, but I believe they have free accounts also. But they completly encrypt all your email. Not a bad place.
