Hey, when I turn my disco on in the morning , everything seems fine with it. NO LIGHTs ON THE DASH! if i drive it moderately during the day something starts happening. whenever im at idle, like at a stoplight, or in a parking space the oil light cuts on. this only happens after ive been driving it a bit, so I assume the engine is hot. once I give it some throttle though, the light disappears. Anyone have this problem in a disco before or know what it could be? I seafoamed my engine, which did not help the light problem. it actually made more oil leaks appear, thanks

When your oil gets hot from driving around it gets thinner, and oil pressure will go down. You either have a weak oil pump/other oiling problem or worn engine bearings, etc., causing you to run with lower than normal oil pressure. When your oil is cold and thicker it can maintain enough oil pressure to keep the light off, when it gets hot and thinner, the oil pressure is dropping enough to kick that light on. I think this is around 5 psi, or something? Anyway, you need to run an oil pressure test on your motor to see exactly what you've got, and then make repairs as necessary to oil pump and/or bearings.
I'll bet your oil pick-up screen is clogged. I've personally done several of these - clean then up and the light goes out for good. Most of the time the oil pan is leaking too so it is almost as easy just to drop the pan and take a look with your eyes at the pick-up screen. If the screen is clogged you clean it out with some carb cleaner or whatever and re -seal & install the oil pan. True, other issues may exist but this is a common problem with these trucks and it is easy to see and fix if the screen is clogged. Just what I'd do verses over-thinking this issue and spending time to find out that the pressure is low causing the light to flicker - why - because the screen is clogged.
