Hey all! I haven't disappeared just been super busy with a job promotion, blah blah blah you know how it goes. But that's besides the point. :)

Rick (Group Captain Mandrake) is on the road travelling and lost his oil pressure sending unit. He is going to try to limp to St. Louis and I have been trying to find him a replacement part to no avail. Our local independant doesn't have one and the dealer is out as well.

He has a 2003 4.6 so I'm not too familiar with this engine. I vaguely remember rumors that there is a Ford unit that may work in it's place. I searched here but didn't find anything so if anyone has ever found an alternate oil pressure sending unit post it up.

Thanks and miss you guys!

Not sure. They tried to epoxy it to hold until they could get to a bigger town but it didn't hold and they are stranded about 5 miles from Clarksville, TN.

I think its just the thread pitch that is the same, not sure though. 3/6 x 16?

Only thing I could come up with, and this isn't accurate by any means, is one for a 93 Lincoln Mark 8 with a 4.6.

Just throwing that out there if anyone has an idea.

I think it is bspt or bpt thread. But can't remember. 99 is a split year in the sensor too but I don't know about the thread. Mine has a old sensor on it iirc, only 1 wire.

Google says it is 1/2 unf but I don't know

Try one of these:

STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # PS447
AIRTEX Part # 1S6799
BECK/ARNLEY Part # 2011515

Good luck.

An Echlin Part# ECH OP6919 from any NAPA auto parts store should also do the job.

True story about old sensors on some 99's. but the tread is the same as the newer ones. There is even a kit to put the new two wire sensor on the old 1 wire engines because they leak less oil.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in. Special thanks to Jen, Brunch will be on me.
By the way, this truck is an '03 4.6 and the thread pitch for the oil pressure ports is M12 x 1.5.

I think you may have been able to walk into just about any parts store and buy a drain plug in that size... you probably have it all fixed now though.

That was what I thought, but not in Clarksville.
I finally found a short M12 x 1.5 bolt at Advance. To that I jam-nutted and Locktited two nuts to leave about 1/2 inch of threads exposed. Add some thread sealant tape and it made for a pretty good plug.
