Oil Weight

What is the recommended oil weight on this forum for synthetic? I have 10W30 Mobil One Extended Synthetic now and drive year round in Florida. It is averaging around 90 degrees/day. I emailed the Royal Purple rep and he recommended 5W30 or 10W30 with his product. I've read other people using 0W40 Mobil One and 10W40 Shell Rotella.

I have ~37800 miles on my Disco now.

10w40 mobile one is just fine same with the Shell Rotella( even though im running 15w50 hey AZ gets hot what can I say ?

now by extended, you dont mean the Mobile 5000,7500 etc line right.... they are actually conventional blend.

I run Castrol Syntec 10w40 or 20w50 depending on which is one sale at the local Auto store. Generally 10w40 is the easier one to find.

I run Rotella T 5w-40 synthetic all year.

"Zonkatruck" - you are fine if you are running the 10w30 synthetic. 10w30 is actually what LR calls for. If it starts to leak oil, you can buy a heavier weight. I use the 0w40 Mobil 1 synthetic because it supposedly has a better detergent propery than their other products. During the summer months, I use 15w50 Mobil 1 synthetic.

For a newer truck like yours, deciding on which weight to use (0w40, 10w30, 10w40, 15w50) is probably splitting hairs.
