Hi all, I've installed about 6 or so lifts on jeeps but this weekend will be helping a buddy put on OME MD springs on his stock 95 Disco 1. My questions is if the stock springs and OME MD can be installed with out spring compressors? Thanks!

Sure

Just be careful not to short cut by pulling them out before they're clear and unsprung. I think it's actually safer to use a compressor, and they're usually only a few bucks to rent. I used one but I was working alone and thought it best. Also didn't have to drop the axel so far down. At the time I was concerned about stressing the brake lines. I probably worry too much ! :D

I did OME and RTE springs front and rear about a month ago and I did not use a spring compressor. It's not that tough of a job. Since you've got that Jeep experience you should be O.K.

No spring compressor used on my OME 3" lift, used 2 hvy duty jack stands and my trusty 2 1/2 ton floor jack. Just take your time and don't rush it.......and whatever you do don't remove the panhard rod!

No spring compressor on my 3" OME lift (99 DII). Saves a lot of time by eliminating the time it takes to compress each spring.

two ratchet straps on the spring take about 5 minutes to put in - beats the hell out of having to unbolt half of the suspension. Tried on 4 trucks so far, never been disappointed.

I like to put stands under the frame, put the jack under the side you are not working on, and wedge my back on the fender with my foot on the hub and push the axle down. Just don't break the brake lines. I was able to do this with OME SHD's and 2" blocks rear and OME 764's and 1" blocks in the front.
