How long is your daily commute? If the cost of fuel and insurance for a beater is less than the cost of fuel to drive the Discovery then you should buy the other car. If you have a short commute, less than 10 miles, then it isn't worth buying another car.

Replacing or fixing the current engine would be a good idea.

Really though, if some extra money is coming in I would suggest paying off any debt you have. Once you are out of debt you can buy all kinds of stuff for your truck.

Though lockers would be great and sound appetizing. A new motor is probably the most logical thing you could do.

I voted lockers and axles.. You can easily swap that to the next truck. New engine sounds good but unless you mean a brand spanking new or rebuild 3-5k engine you might as well roll with what you got. It all depends on what you want and need :D

Take the disco out of daily service

I'm on the hunt for a new daily driver after I see how badly Uncle Sam rapes my over corporate & personal taxes this year...

this extra cash is whats left from payin debt. dont have much debt, even my house is paid for. im probably looking at another car. 10mpg in the disco is no way to save. second would probably be an engine, i know of a good used low mileage 4.6 now and unsure how long its going to be available. the lockers would be motivation to do some much need maintance in the axle areas

If you're going to do the second, you better get a honda for a daily driver first...

Same here. Love my Disco but the gas mileage is killing me.

6 months ago I got a E39 for roughly USD2300, saved 1/3 on gas money. I travel 10km x2 daily, and with the price of gas here, I am saving roughly USD100 per month. Plus, BMW parts are as cheap as Honda or Toyota over here.
