Done.

I took my little girl on a drive through the desert on Saturday and I was disappointed to find literally miles of welded 4" steel piping forming an ugly (and expensive) barrier that sealed off a huge area where we used to explore offroad. It's just an area of sandy washes that lead down to the river but it's all off-limits now. Too bad the Budweiser-tossin asshole rednecks have to ruin it for everyone.

Where was that Blue? I've also noticed the land between the CAP and Carefree highway has been closed and in a few places piles of rock put in the way. Used to be a nice place to go ATC and dirt bike riding.

Perhaps a substantial amount of that garbage is "tossed" by illegals. I don't know-just sayin. The guvment is worried about trail abuse more than the bloody invaders.

Thanks guys, good to meet you too J.

All support is appreciated. The area in WI in question had over 200 arrests/citations over 2 day period last memorial day so they will be trying to crack down hard on all OHV across the board.

It is known that we are going to be screwed, WOHVA is trying to be proactive in influencing just how hard it will be and under what conditions.

Sucks about what is happening in the Southwest but post it up if you ever need some support from the Midwest in this same way.

Out at Needle Rock north of Fountain Hills. It's a fun drive to start at Needle Rock and drive up the main wash for a few miles, eventually coming out on Bartlett Lake Road. On Saturday we took a side trail off the main wash and ended up in the unpaved residential horse-property areas of northeast Scottsdale. The side trails get pretty tight and leave some good AZ pinstriping down the sides of the truck. Gotta take it slow and watch for ATV's and motorcycles though....almost took a motorcycle in the grill on Saturday. Jackass was hauling ass around tight, blind corners.

It's funny that someone mentioned illegals leaving the trash...Needle Rock is a fun area to pass through but you don't hang around the main Needle Rock park area unless you are there for Mexican bath day. Tons of trash everywhere. That's why the side washes leading off the 3 mile road leading up to Needle Rock park were a fun place to explore...you could get away from the masses of people packed into the park. Now the 3 mile road has been paved and a new steel fence corrals everyone into the "approved" areas. At least they didn't block off the big wash leading up towards Bartlett Lake Road - I was expecting that to be walled off too.

Here's a funny blurb on the Tonto National Forest's website:

?We ask for public support and understanding as we complete these long-awaited recreational facility improvements,? said Tammy Pike, Recreation, Lands & Mineral Staff director, Cave Creek Ranger District. ?We are very eager to see all these new improvements which should result in a higher level of recreation experiences for our visitors.?

Yep, the jeep guys hit the nail on the head. The area is (was) full of quads driving around in circles, making berms and jumps, playing the dipshit "I bet I can get further up this pristine hillside than you can" game, etc. What I like about driving through the washes is that it's all just loose sand & gravel and it gets freshly paved a few times per year during the monsoons. Even the motorcycle and quad ruts and berms get washed out pretty frequently. The trailblazing up the hillsides is a different story though.

Thanks to everyone who has signed as it's made a noticeable difference. I spoke with the Executive Director of WOHVA and he was wondering what was going on with the recent spike in signatures. Told him it was just the LR community answering the call for a good cause. :applause:

Don't want to keep bumping but wanted to share with all that participation was indeed noticed and appreciated.

If you haven't done so yet, please consider throwing your name down so everyone can have a stopover stop in WI between the coasts.

Re: Online petition for trail use *update*

An update on this 2 years on... The park is coming closer to beign a reality as the Forest County Board voted 18-1 in support of allocating $46K out of 2014 budget to assist WORVPI.org in securing land grants and other expenses.

That website has way more info on the park itself. Right now they've asked that emails of support be sent to the following political and economic leaders, especially from people who would travel from outside the state bringing money in to a county in need of cash flow.

Senator Baldwin Doug_Hill@baldwin.senate.gov
Senator Johnson Camille_Solberg@ronjohnson.senate.gov
Rep. Duffy Nathan.Schwanz@mail.house.gov
Governor Walker MaryAnnT.Lippert@wisconsin.gov
Senator Tiffany Tom.Tiffany@legis.wisconsin.gov
Rep. Swearingen rep.mursau@legis.state.wi.us
Rep. Mursau rep.Swearingen@legis.wi.gov
County Chair Millan millan@centurytel.net

If you're in a nearby state and would consider traveling to a 10,000acre park in Forest County, WI... please drop a note to the above. Thanks in advance.
