Have a 2000 disco with about 112000 miles. Head gaskets were done at about 850000 miles.
Truck was running rough and then a huge cloud of white smoke came from the tail pipe. Thought it was the gaskets again.:banghead:
Mechanic told me that the heads were taken off and pressure tested and found nothing wrong. also the gaskets looked good. so now he thinks its the block. Had told me that coolant was entering in cylinder #6. So is it a slipped liner, porous block? What are my options in fixing this. When i searched it seems like you cant get an engine.
Does this in fact sound like its the engine?

Thank you,
Mike

So is a slipped liner repairable? Can you can re-sleeve it? Has the truck become a parts truck now and not repairable. Just looking to what options i have. Have had the truck for eight years and kept it in good shape. Real shame to get rid of it.

You might be able to re-sleeve it, but if you're doing the work yourself (i.e.- pulling the engine and shipping it to a shop to have it fixed with top hat liners) it would probably be cheaper/easier to just replace the it with a known good engine. Will Tillery just posted one in the Part for Sale section today...
