We've taken the plunge and bought a Mercedes 614D minibus to convert into a motorhome.

That's our Renault Trafic van behind it, and a VW Golf beyond that, it's a big beastie!

Intention is to tow the big 6-wheel trailer with it when we go to shows, although it's a bit down on horses at 130bhp against 180 or so for the Discovery. Gearing is much higher so max speed is not that relevant.

I know a few guys here are into this sort of thing so posted the pic for interest.

It's 1999, 92k miles, 4250cc unit injection ECU-controlled diesel, but only 4 cylinders, and a turbocharger.

Will this motor fit in the Rover?
:)

It's got some horrendous amount of torque, enough to strip a Discovery transmission methinks, but for what it is there's good reports on its longevity so that's my main concern. 400-670nm is quoted, but 130bhp @ 2200rpm.

Been on the CAD system working out floor plans today, we have to carry a 3/4 ton engine in the back as well :D:D

Left hand side is front, top half is a representation of the windows.

It's all lined out inside, just got to gut a caravan for fittings and buy some sheets of grp/polyester honeycomb to make up the interior panelling.

I'd love to have one ! No emergency break ?

Yes, but we are so used to Land Rovers that we always chock the wheels ;)

It was more for when we were jacking it up, but the twin rear wheels are quite heavy and the brakes aren't going to move, it has spring brakes for the handbrake, air pressure pulls them off. Service brakes are ventilated discs all round, air over hydraulic system.

Back axle looks good for 10 tons or more:
