I replaced my Air Filter yesterday and the code is gone for now.
This code seems to pop up in so many different circumstances and might mean different things, depending what other code joins it.

I still had the codes for about 3 days after I changed the MAF, it took it a few days to clear up, on Wed I got in it after work no SES runs fine. Seems it just piggybacks on other codes.

I've had a gas cap that showed a evap leak code, how long sonce you changed the air filter and how long have you had the codes? I had mine for 2 or 3 months and it took 3 days to go away on its own. I think the computer relearns. Thats what I think could be wrong.

You could do what I did find a MAF that you know is good or bad and replace it and see what happens. I did that with the 02's and MAF. I had the general idea of what was wrong. I've got less than $200 bucks in the fix and ended up with 2 extra 02's.

On here you can ask a question and get a hundred different answers, so I just went thru my 3 or 4 post about this and narrowed it down.

If you want to try the MAF I'm pretty sure mines bad. If you want to cover shipping its yours. Process of elimination.

Yeah... I guess you are right. I need to give time to the computer. I bought the Rover 6 months ago, but I never replaced the air filter it looked old then. When I got it we did a complete LR computer diagnosis, O2's, MAF, etc...The Rover did real well. I did an oil change, and had all the other oils checked, they looked good. Has a bit of the typical D2 oil leak on the passenger side rear valve rockers gasket, which I tighten when needed. About a month and half thats when the SES came on, we turned them off a few times same codes always 1174 & 446. On Wednesday I replaced the Air Filter just in case the 1174 was for a clogged Air Filter and the CVS for the 446 code. When we checked the codes today only one came up the 446 for CVS, maybe I'll give it a few days and see if it goes out.
Thanks again, Dave
