There are 6 threads that mention getting a P1496 code but none mentions any solutions that got rid of the code. Anybody ever figure out what was throwing the code? Leaky hose somewhere?

Negative. I still get the code on occasion. Have replaced fuel filler cap and PCV hose. Still not sure what's causing it and haven't been able to shed much light on the problem based on prior Dweb threads. I'd also be grateful for more information on this point. Sometimes I get P1448 in conjunction with it.

Seems like it is a fault thrown up by something in the fuel tank evap system. I know that on a D2 the fuel cap being loose will cause a problem, but generally we don't get the engine management light the same as NAS spec cars.

Have a look around all of the fuel tank venting, charcoal filter (if fitted) and so on.

There is a section in RAVE starting at P195 and going to P196 giving details and diagnostics info. This is for the D1, not D2.

I'm in the same boat Tugela, nobody seems to be posting much of any solutions to the code. I'm getting it about once a month. I clear it and it goes away for a while then meanders back lol. I'm not too worried about because it's not affecting anything except an annoying CEL, I'm pulling 14 MPG :)
