P38 Tech/Spe I wasado Jumping/Bouncing then flat.

Vehicle sat for about 3 weeks. Drove about a mile and the tach started bouncing around then went flat. Speedo went flat. I threw a much of faults and lights came on. Faults were trasnmission and stransfer case.

Let the car sit, restarted and let it idle for a while. All seemed just fine. Wife drove for abou 25 miles and touched the brakes and it happened again. She got home, but said it seemed to be loosing power after that.

Any ideas what I might look at?

Sounds like alt or grounds. Looks at the tech section on Rangerovers.net for some great troubleshooting and diags. Also...battery could need charging or replaced.

Battery is less than a year and massive diehard version.

mine did the exact same thing a few weeks ago. alternator was bad. interestingly, after the first episode of this, it was fine for a week-10 days. I could never find anything wrong, other than a loose,dirty ground at the battery. I could never get the alternator to fail, then it happened again. I was able to see a Voltage output of only 10 V for a little while, then it was fine again. I changed the alt and have not had any problems since.

Not sure if you found the problem, but I have seen the ground on the right hand side of the engine compartment, under the fuse box loose. Caused IC issues w/guages, etc. Worth a shot. Good luck.

Yeah did not find problem with ground. Alt was it.
