Figured I'd throw this up here and D-90 before going broader or eventually to fleabay.

I'm switching onboard computer applications so this stuff is now in excess of needs. Basically it's a rugged & simple computer perfect for GPS and other basic things-bear in mind this is no Cray2 supercomputer so if you're looking to do your World of Warcraft while wheeling this probably isn't the solution. Here's what I'm selling:
Toughbook1 (Medium).JPGToughbook2 (Medium).JPGToughbook3 (Medium).JPG

1- Panasonic Toughbook CF-28 w/60gb HD, Pent III, DVD/CD, Windows XP operating system. The computer currently has several nav/topo applications loaded on it in addition to what you'd expect (itunes, etc). It's got an old version of MS Streets & Trips (03 I think), an fairly old edition of Delorme Topo USA (*the maps for the NE US are loaded onto a virtual drive on the harddrive, that application will remain on the computer), National Geographic Backroads explorer, MS office, etc. The computer's screen is not a touchscreen and this one does not have internal wireless-I justed a PCMCIA wireless card. Will come with AC and DC adapters, misc doors that I've removed b/c I got tired of opening and closing them, etc. Computer's keyboard is in good shape, screen is fair-but as you can see with the GPS shot works fine for the intended applications.

2- Panasonic Toughbook CF-28 for parts-no HD, Pent III, current has the 3.5 drive in it, still has battery in it (no caddy-the single caddy for the HD is in the working machine). About a year and a half ago this one started dying-not sure why, I got the silver topped one stripped off ebay and switched over to that and left this in the corner. This one has internal wireless so if someone wanted to frankenstein them back together there is the possibility that you could retool the two into one with that functionality. I never bothered to go down that path. This one's screen is also imperfect-and quite frankly I'm not sure that part works anymore.

3- Kodiak mobile docking station for the CF-28. Basically this is a police car docking station, it's solid enough that I'm pretty sure you could check your email after you rolled your truck and the entire thing would still function perfectly. As you can see in the pics I installed the docking station in between the seats so that the passenger would the primary operator of the system-since I usually had someone up front I didn't want to take away the legroom, block the potential airbag->projectile path, etc. In order to achieve the vertical and horizontal ergonomics I used a piece of wood covered with carpet and topped with diamond plate that was bolted to the seat base-I can include this in the sale if someone is swapping it into a D1 and wants that to mess with, otherwise I'm not shipping it unless requested. The docking station has a multitude of functions that I never got to trying to use or enable, if someone's tech savvy or bored I'm sure there is a lot more functionality that can be had with it. The station has a locking interface so the toughbook is secure in the vehicle-the two keys for this will be included. The station has the ability to be hardwired to the battery, run off switched power, etc-I will include a new waterproof connection with the station for the new owner to wire (as well as send you the pdf manual from Kodiak, etc).

CF-28's are good basic computers, they are heavy as crap, not terribly fast with the Pent III but they are fairly easy to rebuild/maintain (if I can do it, most people can)-when coupled with the docking station you get a pretty good onboard full size laptop system that you can leave in your truck and feel pretty secure about it not getting taken out of there. As I stated at the beginning, it's not the panacea of onboard computing-just a solid solution that could probably be used as a wet-ground hi-lift base or a hammer in a pinch (the toughbook is absurdly rugged). It's worth caveating all of this by saying it's an old(er) computer and it's not exactly plug + play when it comes to the docking station-if you can wire aux lights you can make it work, but the entire thing will need your massaging to make it work for your truck.

Looking to do $400 shipped as a Dweb special, payment via paypal. I'll send it likely via several boxes UPS ground since this stuff is not light.

Cool-as do I, one of them literally went to Iraq with me (twice); I'm only switching out b/c I picked up a good tablet fairly cheap and my kids want their legroom back from the docking station.

Not to hi-jack but I'm going to anyways, what kind of tablet did you go with?

I just picked up a Samsung Q1 with the 1 ghz pent mobile 1 gig of ram and a 60 gig hard drive to load up as a carputer that I can swap between the old Jag and RRC. Kinda curious how they work out in the car..

No worries on the hi jack, I put it up here mostly just to throw it out here first before turning to ebay where I'm fairly certain I can unload it quickly.

I got a tabletkiosk EO tuftab; inspiration/imitation being what it is the credit goes to this thread: http://www.discoweb.org/forums/showthread.php?t=57374

I started looking on Craigslist from time to time and a pawn shop in Md (imagine that...) had one for a great price-after ensuring that it worked I grabbed it.

Looks like the same basic idea as the one I got, I'm anxious for it to get here so I can start playing with it lol. My Jag already has a radio that can receive audio through bluetooth and I ordered one for the RRC as well so link up should be quick and easy when swapping cars. Just need to pick up a extra gps receiver and a couple of usb dvd roms.

Thanks Ray, but I'm going to have to pass. Not the cost just that something else has come up $$wise
