For those of you that may be interested I installed my panhard rod bushings this evening. I'll list my tools and tips for those of you that might need to do this sometime.

Materials:
1. 7/8" socket and box end wrench.
2. This bushing remover/installer that the tool company I work for sells. :D
3. Hammer.
4. Pry bar.
5. New bushings and hardware.
6. Shop rags.
7. Torque wrench.
8. Copenhagen, water and a radio.

I started off by removing the panhard rod and cleaned the accumulated road grime, mud and oil off of it. Then and only then did I wrap it in a shop rag and clamp it firmly down in my handy dandy vise. Next step was to select the adaptor that unseat the bushing and cranked away and pushed them out. I cleaned out the bushing seats and refit the new ones.

Now came the only hard part of the install, lining up the holes to slide the new bolts through. I got to this point in about 20 minutes and about that same amount of time to finish. By virtue of a little trial and error I found the easiest way (for me.) Fit the end by the diff. first then the end under the steering box. The reason I did it this way was because you can use the bracket for the rod on this end to lever against to line up the holes of the bushing and the bracket and slide that second bolt in. Torque them down to 88Nm and you are ready to go.

Start to finish was about an hour including clean up. PS: I have pictures but no idea on how to reduce them to fit.

Hope this helps someone,
Michael

Hey Michael,

Nice write up. Citadel, huh! My dad graduated in '67. I lived in Charleston for about 10 yrs. too. I was born and bred a bulldog but by the time college came around I had had enough..lol

Gamecock and Winthrop Eagle here.

By the way there is a Citadel Oyster Roast in Charlotte the weekend of Nov. 13th.

Take care!
