Parking brake cable

As mentioned in an earlier thread my parking brake cable became fused to it's housing when my engine ground strap came loose and the starter used it to complete it's electrical circuit. Sounds crazy but apparently I'm not the first one to have had this happen. In fact, when I Googled "Discovery 2 frozen parking brake" it was one of the first links that showed up on the list.

I've got a new cable ready to go in (I had to hacksaw the old one off at the drum to get the brake to release) so before I crawl under there I was wondering if anyone else has done this job? If so any tips?

it also happened to me!

I recall needing a crows foot wrench and some long extensions to get at the adjustment in the trans tunnel. It was a long time ago.

Hey kcabpilot, I'm assuming you got the cable in by now - I've experienced a snapped cable and will be attempting to put a new one in tomorrow. Any instruction would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Just an FYI... you can reposition the parking brake assembly and mount it to the opposite side of the window switch panel.
This is on my to do list.

Maybe a bit embarassed to admit it but my new cable is still sitting on the bench and I've been living without one all this time. Just a lot of other projects in the way but I'll get to it eventually. I'm pretty sure you have to pull the driveshaft to get that drum off.
