I have a stock 03 Discovery and I an interested in Parnelli Jones Dirt Grip tires, in size 31X1050R16. Has any one tried them? Does any one know if they will fit?

My BFG 265/75/16's are ~31". They required fender triming and would still rub without a lift.

This is one of those issues of mixed results. I had installed 265/75/16 Hercules M/Ts before my RTE 2" lift and I had no rubbing issues at all. I even put some flex in the suspension out of curiosity and still nothing.

I say that regardless of whatever size you upgrade to you should probably lift the truck anyways. Are you planning on lifting soon or just going for the bigger tires?

I had a set of 37 PJ dirt gripz on my jeep....so here's my feedback. They are siped and work well on the street for a tire that chunky...and decent off-road...but it was a heavy freekin tire....so for the money....and weight...I get anything other than the PJs.

Oh...and they cup horribly..no matter how much you rotate them.
BFGs=long lastin
Truxus=decent...crap to balance

that's my opinion of those tires in that size ;)

I thought those fit the D2 without trimming how bad was it, I want to put on tires before the lift, now I might have to do lift first! that size may vary from mfg but they are approx 31.6 inches tall.

Before my lift I had to cut a 1" x 4-5" hunk out of my front bumper as well as cut away part of the pastic sill. Mine is a 99 so it had the lower fog light valance. If you have a later d2 that might not be the case. Also my driveway was up an incline and when ever the front end "flexed" it would rub. I'll attach a few photos of what I had to cut away. Now that it has a OME lift and TJM bumper no issues at all.

Yes you can do it without a lift, you just need to trim and becareful.

Thanks for the advice. Looks like I will have to lift it first. Will think about the tire some more. I have BFG A/T's on my old truck, and they are good, but suck in mud. I live in Arizona, so I do not see a lot of mud, but when I do, I don't want to get stuck.

Jmoore, Thanks for the great pictures mine is the same year,same color. My wife bumped the front bumper and put a crack in it so I have the excuse for the new TJM bumper, sorry to copy!! How much trimming in the back of the side sill, its hard to tell. I have running boards that may interfere, I guess its back to the garage to check it out.
