Looks good, but how are you going to see the reflections of traffic lights in your hood now? The only way you'll know the light is green is when the driver behind you honks at you.
TRUTH! I didn't realize how much I relied on the reflection on my hood until I painted it black. Now I just have bad posture.

Conclusion: painting your hood black could lead to scoliosis.

Looks good. Like others have said, it's easy to touch up.
I prefer spraying several light coats to build up material thickness. Let it dry completely, then score the edge where it meets the masking with a fresh razor. Crisp, clean results that are easily removed.

Looks really good !!!!

Can't beat the price.

My rack is getting a bit shabby, I may plasti-dip the rack.

Where did,you get the wind deflector in the pic?

I dont know the brand I got it used like that the border to border and LR logo is not a decal is painted in the plastic like it was made for that border to border expedition

Plasti dip is a great solution for some applications, but it is not very robust. For a roof rack or similar I would look at spray on bedliner. It will last much longer and resist peeling way better that plasti dip.

First day in a while that was over 40* so I gave the hood dip a shot. Everything went well till I shot the 5th coat, headed inside, grabbed a cup of tea, and searched for tips on pulling the tape. Turns out the last coat should be shot heavy along the edges of the tape, and the tape pulled immediately. Ran outside, used what was last in my can, and gave it all a shot... Let's just say I am very happy I can peel it off once it's fully cured and try again another day.

I have always wanted my hood blacked out but never wanted to spend the cash on a decal and never wanted to use paint, so the plasti dip sounds like a winner.

But before I start this I wanted to know how meany regret doing the hood black out,
and how meany wished they had done it sooner???

I done both the decal and plastic dip , the decal is a pain in the ass if you are not a pro you will f it up plus tou need atleast one more person to help you getting the bubbles out suck so plasti dip is great for that ,no help, no bubbles and for about $7 with tape you cant beat it down the line dont like it or got ruin peel it off do it again you can do the hood 10 times for the price of one decal , just wish my truck would be a lighter color the dark green and black dont contrast as well

How did you mask the corners to get a smooth rounded corner?

Use thin painters tape, then comeback with the wider tape behind it.. That said I went the vinyl route.. looks great, wasnt hard to put on.. but not as cheap as painting it.

Pretty much what Cris rrc said. I have the Vigg blackout. I was able to get it pretty damn good doing it by myself. Still there were a couple tiny bubbles left that I popped but you can tell if you look close enough where they were. Also, there's about two spots where a piece of grit got on the hood and is under the decal. The hardest part of the Vigg decal was getting the edge nearest the windscreen to wrap under the hood, and actually stay under there long enough to dry and adhere. I had to use tape to keep it wrapped.

Would I do it again, IDK? It doesn't hurt anything really, but I don't think its a huge help either. I don't have roof lights anymore and when I did they still cast a ton of light on the hood, even with the blackout. It looks cool but as Cris mentioned it doesn't really stand out a bunch on my Woodcote Green D1.

If I were to do it again I'd definitely go with the Plasti-dip. I may Plasti-dip everything below the trim line now as there's a bunch or chips and whatnot.
