Plastic radiator piece + extreme cold = breakage

If you've read my previous posts about the low coolant issue, you'll remember I said there was a small leak. Well, I located the small leak and it was at the tube going from the radiator to the expansion tank.

To my surprise, it was leaking due to the plastic "nipple" from the radiator to the expansion tank hose had broken.

Does this mean a whole new radiator or is there a way around this? Tried posting pics from my phone, but I can't resize them.

Probably need a new radiator but I once used one of these on a BMW with a similar broken nipple. Really do not know if it is the same size or would work on a Rover

Is it the hard plastic hose that comes from the expansion tank looks like it goes in one side and out the other?

If the piece you are talking about is the same as my disco 1 I drilled and tapped it and in stalled a brass barbed fitting I picked up from the hardware store. never had a problem after. I also sis this same mod when the one on the expansion tank broke. no issues

I had the same problem with my overflow nipple. I replaced my radiator, you can get one on rock auto for less than $200.
