Please help an idiot with codes

I have an 1996 Disco SD. I have been fixing one thing after the other trying to get this thing up to snuff.
Right now the ScanGauge is showing P1138 and P1193.
What would be the first step in diagnosing the problems? Switch the sensors?
Is there some way I can use the ScanGauge to give me more info?
Please use small words. :drool:
(I am comfortable with a wrench, but most of my experience comes with pre-OBD cars.)

How much more info do you need? You have the codes so what is the problem?

First step would be to test the sensors according to RAVE, or in the case of the P1193 follow the instructions in the bulletin which is posted in the Technical Service Bulletins section of this site. All 4 sensors should be the same in your truck being a '96, so you can use the same test procedure for the other sensor.

osiris, what info do i need? exactly what you wrote. thank you. i must admit though, i can't seem to find the test procedures in the RAVE. Repair yes, diagnosis no luck.

ratboy, I was just messin' around. I have searched and searched again. I have found several threads about these codes, but I have had trouble finding one where someone has taken it from the beginning to the end.
Frankly, some of it (including the stuff in the TSB section) I just don't understand. I think it is just a case of verbage. I am sure I can do everything it says, if only I knew what it said.
