Portals again

Hi,

I have read the thread on portals, and it was good stuff, but I am really looking for those that did do a portal conversion and get your 2 cents on, how it went, the mods required, what solution you used and overall satisfaction with the portals.

Its huge investment and I am wondering if the benefits outweigh the costs ?

I like the square tube stuff under my 303, sure would look cool under a Rover, but these axles are drum brake all around.

If you havent already search straightforwardsupplies in the uk on google. These guys carry pretty much everything you need to do the conversion. I would figure around 10-15 k to do it. My buddy in FL is in the process of doing Mog axles right now and he is doing a lot of the fab work himself and still said it is going to take 10 + to get it down. He is also using Straight forward components. Pretty expensive if you ask me and with 7/1 gears you gotta run some BIG tires to remain even kind of driveable, plus hydro steering to turn it. It all adds up quickly. Gordo.
