Power steering fluid for hybrid system

I have a 95 disco steering pump driving a 93 Def 110 steering box. My 93 manual says to run ATF type F, but that was with the 93 Def 110 pump. What does the 95 Disco manual say to run? (I have a serpentine front end on my engine upgrade - reason for Disco pump.) I figure if I have to go one way or the other, I should favor the pump vs. the box. Running type F now, and about to change out the used disco pump for a new one. Thanks in advance for advice! Anyone know if Dextron and Type F are compatible if mixed?

You'll be fine.

I would say you can use either....As I have seen either used.

The difference between type f and Dextron affect shift quality. For cases of power assist, it works well becuase it is so light in viscosity.

Like I said, I have seen both used, and no problems have resulted.

Now, the transmission, is a different story. :)

Thanks, Chris.

Do you know if they are compatible -- can be mixed?

Dont think it would hurt.

I dont THINK it would hurt. So, I think, if you have some residual left in a pump or box, you would be ok.

More then one customer has done the"but, its transmission fluid................" line on they're Discos and it was fine.

I'm sure you are seeing that I am not committing to anything, for obvoius reasons.

I will say, if it were me......Fill er with Dextron....You can get it anywhere.
