Cool, for the money I would definately want that over a used 97 D90 with a 300 TDI conversion fully kitted out.

I had a feeling it was going to be at least $35K. Seems to be the magic number for everything I want......no matter what Garrett says, I LIKE IT and I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ONE. Since I can't afford the RRS that is....

Wonder how many months I'll have to wait to get rebates or APR specials.

Thanks for posting Alyssa! Keep us updated!

Does the LR2 have air springs?

No it doesn't have EAS. I do think it will be a nice vehicle but with all the options your out the door price is mid 40's. Also this is just for the SE version. Will there be a HSE?

I think they're only doing the SE. But since you can put so many options into it, I don't know how an HSE would be much different.

They are supposed to be on the lots in the Spring. I'm sure we'll get more info as they get closer to being here.

FWIW, I think it's a very fair price for the vehicle I was in. It was a very similar feel to the RR Sport, for $20k+++ less. It's a nice size, bigger than the Freelander, and not cheap feeling at all. It was a very upscale vehicle. The LR2 is NOTHING like the Freelander. Other than being relatively similar in size, I didn't see anything in the LR2 that said "freelander" to me. I actually felt like it was more luxurious than the LR3. Plus, the wheels are really nice. Nothing like cheesy wheels to make a vehicle look cheap.

I think the body looks very much like a freelander with small changes (grill, trim, etc.) but I don't really know anything about the interior of either and won't comment.

I'm really looking forward to seeing one in person. Other than waiting for a (very) used RR or RRSport, I think this is the only NEW Land Rover I will consider. I know the LR3 is nice, it's just not for me.

how does this price line up against the competition? at over $40K for a loaded LR2. what are the prices for X3s, Lexus, etc. just curious.
i have not bought a new car in a long time, so new car prices are a bit foreign.

Seems quite reasonable, almost low considering the standard options.

Here is a (supposed) list of new SUVs in the 35-45K range:
http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpcont...te=suv/category2=pricerange/attribute2=35k45k

The X3 seems the most comparable, with the Lexus a little higher. Acura MDX and RDX are close as well.

I've never driven or ridden in an X3--my sister looked at one but thought it was too small. Will be interesting to see how the size compares. I actually really like the Acura SUV, but they have the soul of a minivan (just like the Honda Pilot). For a comfortable run-about, road vehicle, the LR2 looks like a nice option.

PS We looked at a four-door F150 (I know, big truck vs small SUV) with only power options and cloth bucket seats that was $35K!!
