I was checkin over the disco this afternoon after a weekend of mud and found that the "steering rod" for the right wheel is loose and by twisting it in an up/down fashion it moves quite easily. Is this normal, if not how do I tighten? I've attached a pic explaining the part i'm talking about.

is it really up/down, or you simply were able to rotate it?
If there is up/down slop, you need to replace the tie rod end (unless the slop is in the threads - very unlikely).

sorry I'm just able to rotate it, I apoligize for my ignorance I'm just trying to learn to work on this myself. I twist and it twists that's it, no actual up/down movement just twisting

man, just messin around. You gotta start somewhere. That sounds like normal behavior for a tie rod end. Why are your springs orange?

they are scorpion racing springs and decarbon shocks, so far I really like the road manners I'm still a beginner on offroading but they seem to clear fairly decent for me. My setup is a 2.5" scorpion kit from 4x4ag.com and 235/85/16 kumho m/t's and all is good for right now. next up is a diff guard though, I have some nasty gouges in it.

thanks for the help

if there's no up/down, or side-to-side movement (which you can check by having someone to wiggle the steering wheel while you're watching the joint), it's all good.

You might want to compare the movement of the right tie rod end with the left side, could be you are loosing that right tie rod and may want to replace it.
