Does anyone have the procedure for using the Bearmach Hawkeye to program a new remote (plip)? I still have to sort out whether they're 433Mhz or 315Mhz. I need two for my '03 D2 and one for my '99 D2. Why do dogs like to eat (destroy) car remotes?

I’ve read the Hawkeye and Foxwell diagnostic tools can’t program Disco 2 key fobs. I personally know the Nanocom does this with no problems.

I just read a thread on another forum that a guy programmed aftermarket key fobs (315mhz) with a tool from Launch.

2023 LAUNCH X431 Elite OBD2 Scanner For Land Rover Jaguar

He did a step by step, and a few others got the same tool and seemed to work. I have one inbound from Amazon, and was about $140 with tax, and from the looks of it shipped from China.

I will create a new post as soon as I get it and see if it really works. He has a couple of videos.

Here is a link to the post on that other forum - https://landroverforums.com/forum/discovery-ii-18/i-made-new-keys-118232/
Here is the link to his video

Hope it actually works!

I don't know the Foxwell, but the Hawkeye needs the original Barcoded tag with the 12 digit code that came with the key to program it, the Nanocom uses the 6 digit alphanumerical code on the back of the chip inside the fob.

Foxwell says they do, but they don't. At least my older model wouldn't. I have a newer version but I haven't tried it.

I can confirm in my case the keys I got and the Launch Elite scan tool for the Range Rover will program keys. This is on my 2003 Discovery with some keys I got from Ebay. All good!

The process is a bit wonky as it shows it programmed but until you shut things down or exit the session the keys didn't work. Once I shut down, it was OK. I programmed 2 new keys and the existing key still worked. I added keys to the bottom of the list in the hopes that I would not overwrite the one existing key.

So for about 150 bucks I programmed the keys, and got a scan tool that seems to work. Once thing I didn't expect is that the scan tool DID read the VIN code correctly so I didn't even have to enter that.

Just as a side note the locksmith that cut the spare keys was going to charge 90 to do both keys if it worked, I think it was better that it didn't as I have a scan tool specific for the LR for a bit more than what the key programming was going to cost.
