My pto winch (Bamford) is leaking her oil and instead of tearing it down, I was wondering if the one shot grease/oil tube for the swivels would be a suitable replacement? The oil goes into the housing on the left of the photo. Inside this housing is the gear mechanism for engaging the free wheeling hub.

tks

Another product to try is HiTach, an oil additive. It has a 'cling' property that helps it hang around longer rather than decorating your driveway. I found that it also reduced summertime operating temperatures in the T-case by 50 - 75 degrees....

Cheers

Grease will not stay in there either. You need a reseal. Stick with what is recommended for oil.

How did set up a tempo gauge on the t-case?

Drilled a hole in the side of the casting that was out of the way but still submerged in the oil. It's nice and thick, 3/8 to 1/2" or so aluminium, so it drills and taps easily. The SW temp gauge I installed back in '77 is still working to this day. I figured with the overdrive, the T-case would be working harder/faster.

Installed a similar one in the oil pan, 'cept I brazed on backer plate to make the metal thicker for tapping. A SPDT toggle on the dash allows me to select between the T-case and the sump for the gauge's reading.
