this is a friends 03 disco, they put up the window, shut the car off, walked away and POW the inside actuator? riser thing busted apart. They have the window rigged up but if not it would fall into the door.

Has anyone heard of this?

i dont find that wierd... pretty typical really.

prob needs a new regulator and maybe a motor since they probably used it alot with the regulator binding up...

Mine is starting to go again; this will be the THIRD one in its life. Just like last time the plastic wheel is wearing badly. I put it together last time with no shortage of grease to try and extend its life to no avail. There is a thread somewhere on this website about fixing a broken regulator with a nylon shower door wheel or a quarter. I think I am going to do something similar this time around. Fuck buying another one that is just going to break again.

Wherever you order your replacement parts from make sure to get some door clips. They can break easily if you aren't used to taking this door panel apart.

regulators are cheap. door panel work is easy. sometimes i wonder if adding grease just allows it to collect more dirt.

Yeah it could be. I will be taking it apart soon enough and we will see. Mine never seemed to be that dirty though.

I fixed mine with a pair of fender washers of the proper size. IIRC, it was larger than a quarter; shower door wheel might just work, never thought of that.

I've used screen door repair kit delrin wheels.

Mike, do you remember the diameter off the top of your head? This is something I'd like to buy and keep in the truck as part of spares kit.
It was annoying as hell to have to gorilla-tape the window in winter in Sierras...
