I posted the following on the Range Rover - Technical Discussions, and I realized that a greater number of Discovery vehicles, by model years, had the Rotoflex installed. Also, a greater number of you Discovery owners have converted from the Rotoflex driveshaft to a standard U-joint driveshaft. I would appreciate any answers/information you could share with me:
I have a few questions on the conversion from the Rotoflex driveshaft to a standard U-joint driveshaft on my 1995 Range Rover Classic (yes, I was cursed with a Rotoflex).
Last week I purchased the conversion kit from British Pacific (Daily Special for $250.00). When I received it, I went through the parts list to make sure I got everything. In the Flange Kit, STC4858, there was the flange, spacer, seal, nylock nut, a bolt, and a cotter pin. Can anybody tell me where the bolt and cotter pin are used on the conversion? I looked at the Discoweb article on the conversion http://www.discoweb.org/rotoconversion/index.htm
and it did not show or mention these items as part of the conversion. I just want to make sure that I do the conversion once, and not have to go back and do anything over again.
I plan to use liquid wrench, a heat gun, and a slide hammer (from a rental yard) to get out the centering peg. I have a grinder, if all else fails.
Thanks for any input.
