So I am looking at a 99 DII SE tomorrow with about 60k original miles and I have a rather stupid question.
Are the seats leather? Was this standard for SE models?
I have looked at several both SE and SD and the seats feel the sma for the most part, although the SD feel cheaper and are vinyl.

So with that low of milage what should I look for aside from the normal things, body, oil leaks, how it drives. If ell electrics and AC work.
Anything else?

Thanks in advance.

Check every switch and see if it works. Check the heat and a/c. Look for rust; try to pull up some carpets and take a look.

If you get it, change every fluid in the truck. Diffs, oil, trans and t-case, coolant, brake fluid- everything.

See if you can pull the codes, even if no dash lights are on.

if it has the arm rests on the seats, then they are leather.

Perfect thanks.
They are close today so heading there in the morning. Looks to be a good deal and if they still have it we will be going for it (providing there are no issues)
Thanks everyone and will be taking all advice except for parsonsjunior's going to skip that thanks :smilelol:

Check for oil in the coolant (milk-chocolate-like mix). These trucks have a very bad rep for head gasket woes, especially the early ones (99-2002) Also troubles with slipped cylinder liners. Check or have compression checked in each cylinder. The tooling for the nearly 40 year-old Buick V8 was at the end of it's service life by this time, and made for imprecise tolerances and quality in the 4.0 engines. Also, these trucks are much more electricly complex, so check for faults as advised above. Furthermore, check wheel-bearings, which are sealed. If they are bad, the whole hub has to be replaced, which means $$$. Might wan't to look for a D1 instead, unless you can get an '03 or '04 Disco II with the new 4.6L engine.

dude, you are so far off...

the tooling was not the issue.... just because the design is 40 years old, doesn't mean the tools are....

03-04 have waaay more motor issues than 99-02 D2's.

you cant easily check for a slipped liner, but 99-02 didn't typically have that issue. HG is easy to see cause it normally leaks on the outside first...
