Does anyone know when the R380 oil pump housing underwent a design change? Apparently, some of these gearboxes had a removable pump body, while others had the pump rotor run directly in a machined-out cavity in the aluminum extension housing of the gearbox. Mine is the latter (see attached photo.)
I notice that the rebuild manual only lists steps to remove the layshaft rear support bearing for the design with the separate pump body. On my gearbox, we had to fabricate a special tool from the old inner bearing track to be able to remove the outer race.
