I don't really know for sure. I beleive they are equal IMO. They will always be people on both sides that don't like the other race, but what does made me upset is that if a white person says a racial joke on tv or something, it's racist, but if a black person says something racist it's funny???? YOu know if a white dude said that stuff ("I love black people but I have niggas") it would be on CNN in an hour.

I also don't get the "african american" thing. Most "African Americans" in the U.S. have NEVER been to africa, but they are African American? If you saw a black guy in France would you say, "hey are you african american?" NO, because he is French. He has never been to america nor africa. If you are American, you are American no matter what color your skin is. This seperates us a lot IMO.

*getting off soap box now*

This is going to be a good thread..........

I lived in Dallas for a few years. My middle-upper class neighborhood had very few kids so all the kids in my school were bussed in from across the city. Needless to say I was the minority. That being said, I wasn't the most popular kid in school and found it interesting that I could be hated so much for being white. If I had a nickel for every time I was called a cracker and then got my ass beat by a group of black kids, well I'd have a fleet of rovers. :D

I'm just racist against stupid people.

I spent a year getting bussed from a upper middle class neighborhood to a ghetto school next to the open sewage treatment centre and was "lucky" enough to be part of the 12% white population in school. What a lame year that was. Learned how to fight and talk jive- but didn't learn much of anything else that year.
I think racism is actually becoming more common in the black community. I think the old hard-core white racists have almost died out completely except in the most backwards of small rural areas. :)

Think we'll ever have a WET channel on TV? It would show re-runs of the Golden Girls, The Jetsons, Brady Bunch, and NASCAR.

I don't care what color someone is. Odds are, I won't like them anyway. I'm pretty disenchanted with society in general. I find it much easier and quicker to list out types of people I do like, which are few.

I'll tell you what, though. I have always liked Chris Rock.

Cheers,

Kennith

Myself i've never really understood not liking someone just because of colour/color of their skin, i mean don't you need to get to know someone before you pass judgement, here in Australia we had a white Australia policy in the 50s, 60s and 70s or as it's known here the Menzies era:mad: when it came to migration and other things of cause, only letting in people of anglo/and european background (no black people), thankfully those days are gone and so is Menzies (the prime minister of that time).

All people have there good and bad points, but human nature usually generalises and one bad apple means they are all bad:mad:

A moron is a moron no matter what colour/religion/race they are.

I'm proud to be a Scot-Irish American. Many times when I have to fill out forms that have the ethnic question and only give whites the caucasian block to check I check other and if there is a remarks section I fill in Scot-Irish just to make a point. Like I said I am proud of my heritage but really a hyphenated society is a fragmented society. We need to drop the hyphen whatever and go back to just being American or Australian depending on what nationality you are.

I feel the same way regarding the subject. I don't demand people call me Scottish-Irish-American. Who would know just by my skin color? There are plenty of dark skinned folks that didn't originate from Africa...wonder how they feel when someone calls them African-American? And if ya like where ya come from so damn much then go the hell back. You can be proud of your heritage without making silly requirements on society to be equally as interested in your background as you are. I am simply this: an American. If we all stuck by that sentiment then we would all share a common background that just might help to dimish our differences in a lot of areas.

Would a son of a 2nd generation Egyptian immigrant be called an African-American?
Just curious...

Is someone from Spain hispanic, or do you have to be from Central/South America?

Why am I called "caucasian"? Have you ever seen an actual Caucasian ?

What does an "Asian" look like? Does he look like Ahmad, Rajesh, or Li ?

How do we determine which groups get "ethnic pride" days or ethnic history months?

This thread could be used as a justifying statement on what's wrong with political correctness. And just how does a term that even contains the word "correct" describe something that's so wrong?

I'm sorry but you reminded me of something someone said in Spain when referring to the Spanish. I couldn't help but laugh may ass off.

He said "There sure are a lot of European Mexicans around here".
