Typical Rover issue - a $2 plastic part has rendered a vehicle inoperable.
Last month my plastic radiator cap retired. I ordered genuine plastic caps from Rovers North - and the threads aren't the same. I have a ~4 year old proline radiator. Didn't even occur to me the threads may be different. Contacted Rovers North and evidently the vendor that made that radiator is defunct, so not much they can do.
The genuine plugs appear to be NPT threads. i have just enough of a piece of the old cap left to see threads are more fine than the genuine cap. Perhaps compression type fitting threads. I've exhausted the plumbing departments at Ace and HD - so i'm off to a Fergusson plumbing house this week.
Before i re-invent the wheel wanted to see if anyone had this issue previously and already knew the fitting i need.
If i ever find something that works i'll post what it is.
