2000 LRDII 168k, ran some errands today, no problems 3 hours later went to run some other errands and will not turn over, 12v to primary (good battery). I thinking it might be a starter motor issue (throw out bearing) or some such. Any wisdom?

Checked fuses, moved shifter and tried to start in N, no luck, moved around relays still nothing. Just the strong clicking sound.

While you're at it might as well replace the battery cables. Cheap insurance at that age.

I had experienced the loose ground cable over the summer, I checked that. Now the new problem is after putting in a new starter, as soon as I connect the ground the car tries to start. what could be wrong now? I mean it is one fricking positive lead and a connecter. any suggestions out there?
