Looking for opinions on the difference in the amount of room inside a SWB Rangie vs. a 98 disco. I have an opportunity to grab a 1990 SWB for next to nothing, BUT I might have to get rid of the 98 Discovery (it's a wife thing). We currently haul around two kids and two golden retrievers in the Discovery and I just want to know if it will be more or less hassle with a 1990 SWB............... any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.... thanks..................

Get the County. You'll really like having the drop down tailgate with dogs. I think interior room is about the same. Given the choice I'd prefer the RRC. We have two Yellow Labs and when we take them with us we take the RRC over the D2.

Having one of each, I have found that when I drive the disco I feel a little cramped in the elbow room. Might just be me, other than that there probably about the same size wise and the kids will like the fold down center armrest in the RR.

The Discovery should feel more roomy and airy inside due to having a higher roof, although you guys in the US only have the restyled interior D1's which IMO isn't as open and pleasant as the earlier examples.

There should be more leg room for the back seats in the Discovery if memory serves but I think the boot is not as deep, at least it always appears as if the RR boot is bigger, deep enugh for a spare wheel where the Discovery isn't.

The tailgate on the RR is very nice and IMO they make a great familiy vehicle, but so does the Discovery.

At the end of the day, the over length and wheelbase are the same it's only the internal dimensions which are slightly different proportions. The higher roof in the Discovery is a benefit if you try and put a bike or tall objects in it.

Thanks for the replies............... the truck I went to look at turned out to be too much of a project, so the search continues for a Classic...........

How big is too big of a project? I've got a Classic I may need to get rid of with a move coming...needs small amount of work, I could even do it if necessary.
