Rattling catalytic converter

I am pretty sure I have a rattling catalytic converter in my current project 96 D1. I’m not getting any codes so I suspect it is still doing its job.

Should I expect it to soon fail and clog things up? I’m thinking I can sell the factory cats and fund an aftermarket replacement.

Any suggestions?

For a California redneck solution, drive a sheetmetal screw through the case into the rattling piece, and tack-weld the head to the shell.

I’ve been driving a slightly rattly one on my ‘95 for over a year and no problems yet.

My Old D2 it was the heat shielding that was the rattle. I finally just ripped it off.
