Stupid question but, where in the rave manual does engine removal begin or where is it. What page? I can't figure out how to search in the rave manual. thanks

You should have a list of bookmarks on the left (in windows, anyway). It is listed there under:

Discovery Series II - Workshop Manual - 1999MY ON - 6th Edition - NAS
-->ENGINE - V8
-->REPAIRS
-->Engine assembly

I honestly find it much easier to break out the Genuine Workshop Manual and find the right page. It's expensive, but it's worth it. I hate the RAVE CD. It's nice on the road, but beyond that, it's just a pain in the ass.

It can be helpful in the electrical section, though. It's nice to have the pictures of all those multi-plugs.

Cheers,

Kennith

Thanks guys,I agree, wish I had a genuine workshop manual. Who sells that?
I found the section I was looking for in the rave (thanks mason) but pretty vague. I have the top off, down to the heads and lower intake.Need to remove radiator next. Have the a/c compressor, alt, fan, etc all off and all sensors up top disconnected. Now have to disconnect all lower sensors... cam, crank, knock, oil, etc and go from there. Wondering why rave manual asks to disconnect the harness inside the cabin if I'm disconnecting all from engine? Is that only if you plan to remove the complete engine harness also? anyway, thanks again.

honestly the whole thing is better on an ipad as a single PDF file. You just search the pdf for keywords and go from there. Using RAVE as a mounted disk is a PITA.

Thanks, I downloaded it onto a laptop as a pdf file, but can't figure out how to do keyword searches. That's what I was hoping to do. I have windows 8 and Adobe reader.

If you are using the "special" version of adobe for windows 8, get the version for windows 7 instead.

it probably sucks just like win8 does for the most part.

honestly, if you have an ipad just put it on there, works like a charm. hell i would even rather use it on an iphone

Yep, windows 8 sucks. As far as what version of adobe I have.. not sure. Probably the win 8 special version. Does the version for win 7 have a search bar? This adobe version doesn't have anywhere to type in what you are searching for. If I click on search at the top, a window pops up trying to sell me something...like an upgraded version... go figure! I may see if I can install win 7 version of adobe and try that. Anytime I've installed an older version of anything on this computer, it updates itself with a newer version while I'm not looking. Sneaky! I could disable updates, but then the other updates I need would be disabled as well. Always something! I think I need an old school workshop manual. Thanks everyone.
