Wandering aimlessly
I was thinking about adding a chip last year. I think after reading all the posts on the old d-web, the concensus was that they didnt offer any noticable advantage, so i decided not to get one at the time. I have not completely ruled it out, and now that i have my new gears in, maybe it will help.

anyone have experience with 33's, 4.10'a and a chip?

$499.00 ???? why so much? why cant you just pull out one chip and replace with another?

cant say about all disco chips...but some are soldered in and the entire ecu must be sent in...they do some geek handywork, mail it back. it is not just a pull out push in job.

chip change on a 95 3.9

Mikeyb, on a 95 D1 the factory chip is in a socket, comes right out. The rpi chip has a male/female socket base with a descrambler inside, then you add the performance chip. All you need is a plastic screwdriver. Granted they are not cheap but the results are great. The hard part is removing the ECU from the vehicle. There were caution tags on the chip warning that static electricity will destroy the chip. On the 4.0 without a distributor they use two chips and i think you must ship the ECU and they install.
