Re-wiring the beast !

When the chassi swap was done in the UK, it was not done the proper way and they ended up butchering the wiring harness. I have to redo it again. I have rewired a few cars in the past with proper color coding and all that good stuff. i was just wandering if it is possible to get an OEM wiring harness or something similar or just forget it and just go the home made route.

Thanks all !

Hey Pat,

I have a wiring harness from a 91 RR with the 3.9 engine, will this work for you?

There's also that company called Painless - just bought a entire harness for a hot rod for $130 comes with 24 item fusebox and all the wires are printed with what they are for every 2 inches - utterly brilliant - has all the possible circuits you'd ever need - just mount the box and hook it all up - look on ebay for painless wiring - cheers Dom

Thanks Dominic ! It tooks like I will take that route. I saw an Ez2Wire set (American Autowire) for 300$ CDN and I will probably go with that one.

When I was doing older cars we would order all the wires with the correct color codes and make a mock-up with nails on the floor with the dimmentions of that car and make a harness that way and by that keeping all the original color codes and making it as close to original as it could be. But I realize now that the Defender wiring can be updated and made more reliable and water proof using those harnesses. And with all the identification directly on the wires it is so easy for anyone in the future to work on the truck and find there way around all the wires without any wiring diagram.
