i personally think Chris is being overly cautious about this but it's your rig, you make the call. i would at least pull it apart and evaluate it first.
if it's just a leaking seal, re-seal it.
it the pistons are pitted, it might be worth the cost for a caliper.
i for one, don't think the rebuild it much of an issue, but i do this crap for a living too.
there really isnt much to it
just put it back the way it comes apart, and make sure the seals face the right direction.
and use plenty of brake fluid to prelube the seals. makes assembly easier.

Hey, to each their own. If rebuilding it's doing it for ya, have at it.

I stand by that if this is your first time....Get a manual, and a experianced friend.

Overly cautious..... Well, I've been called worse. Especially on brake issues.

Chris from the sounds of his other thread you maybe correct!! It was all I did as an apprentice in the early 80's was rebuild Vovo cals. No one else in the shop would. The boss would then resell to customers as new. I was you & dumb then now just old

If you are buying new don't buy the shitty ones [cheap] my old opinion

I did not pull the fuse! ;)
