Fwiw, the permatex is almost exactly the same 'stuff' as the paste that hawk, stop tech, etc sell

Maybe so, but it's purple. All their stuff comes in neat colors.:D

I've been wondering how Redline CV-2 would do in DII CV joints. It looks like pretty good stuff.

You mentioned using it on brakes. Have you used it in a CV? I just got a new set of Ashcroft axles (I'd like to thank Justin, Lucky 8, and the awesomeness that is Kevin Costner), and I want to give them something that resists temporary water ingress and high heat events.

I've never used the CV-2 before.

Cheers,

That's what's in my ashcrofts, about 3 years now. I clean and relube once a year. Fwiw, I use CV boots from a C6 (Audi a6q 4.2) instead of the Ashcroft ones. The newer cv boots are more rigid due to the material used. The newer boots material is more durable in regards to the gassing from the grease. I've gone thru several Ashcroft boots but the A6 boots have held up fine plus the A6 boots have a the lip that fits in the groove of the cv. They are a tight fit but two o ring picks help
