Kalix is your bumper going to go along the bottom of the back panel like the Greg Davis rear bumper?

Yes it will. I just looked up a Greg Davis bumper and it will be similar but not near as fancy... I kept the same size material all the way around to prevent having to make those brackets that go on the side wings back to the frame or the body. I wraped the steel from the back piece around to the sides for added strength. I will post more pics this week. All that is left is the painting and weld thecaps on the frame where i cut it off...

my rear bumper v1.0 didn't have any supports for the quarter panel sliders and they would flex after a while. the two main supports just aren't enough. i made a bracket that attaches the rear quarter slider to the large bolt that attaches the tow hitch to the frame.

Looking good. What about riveting some aluminum diamondplate as a transition piece? Or a plain piece of sheetmetal with rhino liner?

I like the rhino line idea. Will the Rhino dealers just do that little of an area? I thought about the diamond plate idea but that seems to be what everone does when they need to fill a spot. No offense to anyone that has it.

I'd recommend the diamond plate method. All the fire trucks w/ ridiculous bumpers (similar to this) have the diamond plating and it looks good. Just my opinion.

I am sure those Rhino Liner dealers will do however small or large a section you want. What about having them spray the bumper support area (the area you want to cover) and then give them the sheetmetal component separate? That way you have a super durable, rust free application.

That sounds like a good idea!

Planet earth currently Oman
remake the same height as the original......and use the original plastic piece.....

Note if your using the factory mounts only, it will twist up into the bodywork..........I know

I added struts from the quarter panel sliders up to the body tub,
which had 1/4" thick rubber between the strut and the tub for flex.

I also tied the bumper into the tow hitch to stop it twisting.

the original mount has one threaded hole and one hole....use both.

The mounts alone will not support the weight of the bumper plus twisting

I would not do the diamond plate. I also would not fasten anything securely to the body of the truck and what you already have working.
